The Requirements

To be a good fit for this opportunity you should have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or English.
  • Five to seven years of professional writing experience in a corporate environment.
  • The ability to quickly develop well-written, clear and compelling copy.
  • Excellent writing, researching, editing and proofreading skills.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for understanding complex issues and the ability to translate and simplify them for key audiences.
  • Solid understanding of broad industry issues.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Internal Communications, as Writer/Editor Executive Communications you will leverage your proven skills and experience to develop content, with a focus on supporting multimedia executive communications to associates throughout the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies. You will join the Internal Communications group (a segment of the Corporate Communications department), which is growing and currently consists of your Director and two other team members.

By managing the use of executives in internal communications, you will produce a variety of communications that educate our associates about the company's mission, vision, values, growth plans and operating priorities. Although you should inherently possess a love for the written word, you should also be interested in using technology in different ways, as the internal communications you develop will have a multimedia focus. In addition to deliverables that will include written materials such as talking points, presentations, memos, emails and responses to the AskMichael email box; you will also be involved in producing videos, webcasts and videoconferences. You will work closely with our graphic designer, IT and video producers to develop streaming video satellite webcasts, interactive presentations and other media. You will also partner with HR on monthly leadership communications and other initiatives. Editing e-newsletters and managing face-to-face meetings with associates will also be a component to this role.

More specifically, you will:
  • Work with management to understand strategic direction and vision for AMHC.
  • Work with leaders to understand their communications styles and preferences.

We'll look to you to think about content development and creation from a strategic standpoint in order to visualize the full picture of the story and to really hone your interviewing skills.
